Here's a new thread to take people's minds off the whole Senior Week thing.

Music is typically tied to great memories.

Are there any songs / artists that remind people of trips to Ocean City.

For me, the list is pretty long, but I'll keep it brief here.

Of course, there's the obvious, Beach Boys and Buffett. But, to me, there's other stuff as well.

When I was down the beach in the summer of 1991, the REM hit at the time "Shiny Happy People" was everywhere. So, every time I hear that song, I think back to the summer of 1991, when I was ten years old, and just getting into baseball, in Ocean City.

Also, the Poison song "Nothin But a Good Time" always reminds me of OC because whenever I'm "downy ocean" I always manage to play this song on a jukebox in some gin joint.

I have others, but I don't want to make this post too long.

Does anybody else have any specific song/artist that brings backs special OC memories?

    Wow, good topic Kds.

I also remember Shiny Happy People in 91 (sadly I was 19 years old). That song was everywhere that summer.

"Don't Worry, Be Happy" was everywhere back in the day as well. Not only the song, but on every T-shirt.

Don Henley's "Boy's of Summer" always reminds me of OC too.

But EVERYONE can relate this song to OC!!!!!

                Here's a couple random ones:

"Down by the Seaside" by Led Zeppelin

"Home by the Sea" by Genesis

"The Downeaster Alexa" by Billy Joel

"Sea and Sand" by The Who

The entire David Gilmour "On an Island" album

Funny that Shiny Happy People came up. It was much later than 1991 but one year we must have heard it on the ride down and it stuck in all of our heads that year. To this day, when anyone hears it, my kids say "It's the song from our Assateague trip one year". Another year, I forgot my CD's and the only one I had in the CD player was Meat Loaf Bat out of Hell. Played all two weeks whenever I couldn't find anything on the radio. Kids remember that one too.
