While this College Beach Weekend group doesn't seem to have the same agenda that BLM has, they seem to exist only to agitate and start trouble.

I'm just hoping this weekend's incidents on the Boardwalk and Seacrets are isolated, and this kind of thing doesn't occur again.

Either these thugs littered up the place the night before or the crews couldn't get in the clean it up due to the melee. These BLM are not typical OC vacationers. It's a shame I have to think twice to take my 2 and 4 year old little girls on the BW. Too bad MD does not have concealed carry reciprocity with PA. I would feel much safer. Agitators of the police have no place in family friendly OC...or anywhere in this country.

The Peoples Republic of Maryland will never have concealed carry reciprocity with PA or anywhere else. They don't even allow it for their own subjects, er citizens.

We have been trying to avoid the boardwalk for the last few years. My kids obviously want to go, but it has gotten very seedy over the years. It was always in my lifetime a place where you would see drunk teens and 20 somethings. But now it boarders on unsafe. I couldn't imagine trying to drive the coastal highway if this crew tried to block the roadway like they have done in other areas. Talk about an education for your kids.

I have read the stories online and read the blatant and not so blatant racism associated in the comment section. I don't believe for a second these thugs are college students.

The mayor of OC has some serious problems. I have heard these types of stories about Virginia Beach and this is one of the reasons we have never gone there. The first step in solving a problem is admitting you have a problem. Sweeping it under the rug and burying the story doesn't help. When people throw bottles at cops they should be cuffed and stuffed in a paddy wagon and spend the night or nights in jail waiting for formal arraignment. Anything else is a disservice to society and to the thugs themselves. It only emboldens them and others like them to escalation of their crimes.

Obama's America supports attacks on LEOs. Obama's America condones riots. Need I continue? BLM was part of this.

I am not of the "political correct" mindset but calling it "Obama's America" shows ignorance and perpetuates the hatred and racism even more. As far as I know anyone on this forum would gladly welcome Obama and his family to walk down our boardwalk at anytime. These people don't represent Obama....just like Trump doesn't represent all white people. An apology should be issued.

BTW.....this shouldn't matter but I am white and I AM NOT a Democrat.

          Terp,

I'm a little rusty on my internet abbreviations. What does LEO stand for?

So both of you really believe that the POTUS supports attacks on police officers? Don't cop out (pardon the pun). By attaching his name you are saying he condones and supports attacks on the police. Wow....step away from the Fox News. I never voted for Obama but it is this kind of hateful rhetoric from both sides that keep us divided. But hey....some people would rather keep us divided. Let me guess.....he really wasn't born in this country either...right?

I agree with this.... Make an example that OC is not going to tolerate this sort of behaivor.. I love the boardwalk, but NOT when i feel the safety of my family is at risk.... back in June,,during the day... ,, we saw several "homeless sort of people" sitting on benches... i even saw some that appeared to be "high".this is not what OC is about... i know everywhere you go..you have this..but this is going to make vacationerers think twice about coming to OC and spend their money.... and OC is not a CHEAP place to vacation.

....cmon brian and mommom....do you really think allowing conceal carry permits (guns) on the boardwalk is the answer? That would make it much safer....right?

His actions speak louder than words if you ask me. He sends staff members to the funerals for criminals and thugs who've died at the hands of police officers due to their own actions. He has done nothing to discourage the actions taken by the BLM movement, which is a domestic terror organization.

I'd really rather not debate National Politics on this forum, but since you asked.....

But, back to the topic at hand, I'd love to see of hear something from Mayor Meehan about what played out this past weekend. Something like this could result in a lot of cancelled condo/hotel/motel reservations if people don't feel safe in a resort town.

I am just saying that the town of OC needs to do more to assure vacationers a safe place to vacation...as i stated OC is NOT cheap.. and i agree with the end of this post...could lead to cancellations.... I dont want to bring my family there and be afraid to enjoy the boardwalk.. We have a condo in the area of Seacrets...and i like to walk at night... i dont want to feel unsafe... Sometimes a few bad apples upset the whole cart.... Dont want to see this continuing to happen...

In over 30 years of going on the Boardwalk, I've seen all kinds of people age, sex, race, religion, etc, and this was the only time I've ever felt uneasy or uncomfortable on the Boardwalk in Ocean City.

We stayed on the south end where it remains crowded on Saturday night.

This same group threatened a takeover two summers ago, and OC put it to rest. I hope they keep a watchful eye on social media in the future.

My niece just turned five, and she adores the Boardwalk. I want her to have the same great memories of summer nights on the Boardwalk that I have. Not this.
I would like to take the girls to the BW again..hopefully this crowd won't be there. At least some are in jail. Thank goodness OCPD can now make arrests.

I was only referencing the previous comment regarding concealed carry reciprocity. My opinion is that Maryland will never grant it.

As far as the question of concealed carry on the boardwalk. I assure you there are plenty of people carrying concealed firearms and other weapons on the boardwalk that you don't even know about. All without legally having license to do so. Maryland is very prohibitive regarding obtaining a license to carry even as a resident of the state. Look at the number of shootings in Baltimore or the district to determine if this helps.

If your car were surrounded on the route 90 bridge or on the route 50 bridge by the BLM or any other violent mob (as has occurred in other cities) would you like to have the option? Have you seen the videos of those people trapped in their cars just start to drive through the mob and run them over?

Incidentally most of the surrounding states do allow citizens to apply for a receive concealed carry permits. Both my wife and I have one. Many of my friends and their wives have them. I assure you we are decent professional types that own our own businesses. Not the run around the mall in camo types.

The part of this story that really bothers me is how the local government is able to squash a lot of these stories. It really is hard to find many papers talking about this. I would never turn my daughters loose on the boardwalk at night by themselves. But when I was as young as eleven I was all over the board walk by my self. The public has a right to know.
