I am not into cover charges. I think there are a lot of places at the beach to drink, hang out and listen to music. Although it may be trending that way, not all places have a cover charge.

My personal bias about Seacrets is the way they started. The marketing was designed to cause the tourists to think this was some forbbiden land
only for locals. Which is fine. They do seem awfully busy.

People have different ideas of vacation. That is what makes OC fun for just about everyone in a group. My inlaws never eat out. My father spent a week at ocean city with out stepping foot on the beach (fished every day).

Paying for the right to spend money in a business and going through a metal detector on the way in is not my thing. I probably spend my money in ways that cause others to scratch their heads as well.

Mink 66 Harpoon Hanna's has no cover at lunch. Very relaxing actually after dodging 18 wheelers and listening to screaming kids all morning. I didn't mean to insult you with the "see the world comment". My only point was that not all places have a cover charge. Different Strokes. When I was typing last night I was watching Super Bowl XL highlights on the NFL network.

      paranoid??

why does a person think people are paranoid just because tounge in cheek they say watch out for the metal detectors?? seriously, doesn't it bother you just a little that you are being wanded between your... anyway, I feel you have the right to spend money anyway you feel and if starting off the night dropping big dough at the front gate is your idea of fun, then have fun! I have gone to seacrets a couple of times over the past couple years but after that what else do they offer?? the bands are great but you can get that at most places. and if the island effect is what you are going for then why not go to one? now don't get your short all bunched up I'm only kidding. when on vacation have fun any way you get it. that is why it is called a vacation. also, have you noticed that you can have fun but only to the limit they allow?? security is strong there but maybe just a little too strong. I mean how many puffed up guards do they need to escort someone they allowed to get drunk on high priced drinks. next time you go check that out you will notice that they only eject you after you have spent most of your cash. again, don't get upset I would never suggest they take away your fantasy island experience.. happy vacationing everyone!!!

        Brianpa,

There is no cover charge at Seacrets up to 5 PM in the summer season. After 5 it's $5, after 6 it's $6, etc. up to $10 max. In winter season, sometimes there's no cover until 9 or 10 at night if even then.

I live in the area and since just my MD driver's license gets me into any place in OC for free whether they are charging a cover or not, I guess I never think too much about them.

My PA license and $10 gets me into Seacrets . Every summer I wish I had a Maryland license. I guess the grass is always greener. Actually since I moved 40 miles south of Erie, I wish I had a Maryland license in winter as well.

          Well someday

            brianpa,

Where do you live 40 miles south of Erie? My wife and both sides of her family are from the Meadville, Cochranton (sp?) and Oil City areas.

              Mink66,

We are in Meadville, PA. Moved here from Pittsburgh in 2002. Not real warm in winter, but we enjoy 4 season outdoor persuits.

                  brianpa,

That certainly is a beautiful part of PA. And yes you do get four seasons there with plenty of snow in the winter. My in-laws live out by the airport and one of my wife's best friends still lives out by Allegheny College so I'm familiar with all the areas between those two points. Where do you live? I've been out to Conneaut Lake Park too. That is certainly a quaint and rustic old-fashioned amusement park.

                    Mink 66,

We live on the east side of Meadville toward Titusville. Currently building a house near the airport.
