  • Looking for something different...

Hubby & I have been going to OC for years. Going down again next month and are looking for some new places to grab a bite. There's the two of us and our 15 yr old son. Not looking for anything fancy or expensive. Just good food and good value. We hate to waste our money on a disappointing meal lol! Any ideas are welcome!

I have found it difficult to find GOOD food in OC... We tend to just hit some happy hours... most are 3-6 or 4-7. Crab Alley has decent food at decent prices,, Crab Bag is another one., Marina Deck isnt bad, Bad Monkey has an awesome adult beverage HH...never ate there..but food looks good....De Lazy Lizard has decent HH food too...

Here's a few that we like: Waterman's (on Rt. 50 before you go into OC,http://crabsoc.com/ ), Coins (http://www.coinspub.com/), Fish Tales (great view,http://ocfishtales.com/), Marina Deck (another great view,http://www.marinadeckrestaurant.com/ ), then in Fenwick there's Dirty Harry's (http://www.beach-net.com/dirtyharrys/) & Warren's Station (http://warrensstation.com/). I'm sure everyone else has their favorites. What one person likes often doesn't appeal to another person. But, it does seem that everyone agrees that you should stay away from Paul Revere Smorgasbord. And, years ago we used to like Phillip's Crab House, but it just isn't what it used to be. The food just isn't as good as it used to be, & it is overpriced. I do suggest that you check out the website or Facebook page for a restaurant before you go to be sure their food does appeal to you & the prices suit your budget.

A lot of restaurants have Early Bird Special, 4 or 5 til 6 or 7 that offer very good food at decent prices. The Happy Hour specials usually can be gotten at the bar only, Early Bird specials can be gotten anywhere in the restaurant. It really depends on how important alcoholic beverages are to you.

But you usually have be seated at the bar. Which drives me nuts. We typically have a drink with dinner. Not sure why I cannot enjoy the HH prices. Also in MD a person under 21 can't sit at the bar.

Joe's Shrimp Boat on the way to Assateague is good, not fancy, but good.
Mio Fratello's in Fenwick for great pasta. They make it themselves, plus they make their own breads as well. Every day specials too.
Anthony's Carryout on 16th is a great place to grab a bite. Hand carved (while you're there) roast beef and ham sandwiches (HUGE) and really good fried chicken.
We used to enjoy Waterman's, but haven't been back since they reopened after the fire.
                  Ask an OC Insider

The food at Waterman's is still good, hasn't changed. But the atmosphere has. I, personally, prefer the old, pre-fire Watermans. The new one lacks personality, it's a little too sterile, although it is attractive.

Off topic, but I gotta say it......If Anthony's on 17 continues to serve only well done RB, maybe they should ditch the carving knife and get a slicer to get a thin slice. Great and fast breakfast!!

I haven't been to Macky's in years. My wife and I wanted to check it out on our trip next week, but the entre prices seem quite high, and it doesn't look like you can get the light fare at the beach area.

Do you still have a good view of the Bay from the bar area?

Thank you. We typically spurge at Harrison's Harbor Watch and an AYCE crab feast, but we didn't want to spend a ton of money at Macky's, so I think we'll do the light fare or HH.
